Oracle Fusion Applications at Oracle Open World

Oracle Open World was held in San Francisco, California during the week September 18-24 in the Moscone Conference Center. The event proved to be as exciting as promised.

I attended Sunday, the first day of the event, by participating in several SIG groups, including Han Kolbe's MN SIG and the GL/ Record to Report SIG group. I also caught Larry Ellison's first keynote speach in which he promoted the new Sun Exadata Database Machine, X2-8.

I returned on Wednesday, September 22 to attend the demo grounds to see the new Fusion Applications first hand and to attend the Fusion UI Customer Advisory Board (CAB) luncheon hosted by Anna Wichansky and Alisa Hamai. Anna and Alisa run the Fusion UI CAB and have successfully hosted a number of events that provide key customers and other supporters a view towards the key design decisons that have gone into creating the new Oracle Fusion Applications User Interface.

After lunch, I again heard Larry Ellison speak, again to a standing-room only crowd of probably 10,000 or more people. Larry had clearly warmed up to his subject matter of promoting the new Sun servers and announced the GA data for Oracle Fusion Applications as Q1, 2011.
